| SATURN FC DESERVED VICTORY OVER ATLANTA FC - 3:0 4/19/2008 |
| Coach Melvin Hill had full trust in his U23 players this Saturday evening in College Park GA. Only Badu Touray was too old to qualify for Saturns starting U23 11 against NPSL Atlanta FC. The opponent started fast and furious and gave Saturns defense some headaches. But it was also Josh Bragg's day between the pipes who saved his team in the very early stages of the match. Against the flow of play Saturn went ahead 1:0 after Corey Herron' hard work on right wing paid off and his cross found Spencer Davidson who headed the ball 20 yards over the 6'8 frame of the AFC 's keeper. Bragg came through again for his team when he saved 2 sure goals to avoid AFC getting the equalizer. Dos Santos Carrington got Saturn ahead 2:0 in the 40th minute after the team had dominated play for quite some time in the second part of the first half. Second half substitute Mo "Little" Bah got his team ahead 3:0 when he smartly looped the ball over a helpless AFC keeper in the 60th minute. Josh Bragg made some more key saves in the second half to make sure of the shutout! Both teams used all of the substitutes listed on the matchsheet. While Atlanta FC subs could not change the momentum of the game, the Saturn Subs came in with the same enthusiasm as the starting 11 and finished the match of brilliantly. A good win for the young team. |
